Looking for something to do this weekend? What about something that is for a good cause, kid-friendly, and involves dancing?

The NICU Moms of Louisiana Cajun Day Event is coming up Saturday, September 28 at Acadiana Village. The event starts at 9:30 am. Music starts up at 10:00 am featuring Horace Trahan and the Ossun Express til noon. Then at 11:00 am the Jambalaya Cookoff votings starts. Several teams will be set up, ready to serve jambalaya.  Anyone attending this event will be part of deciding the winner. It is a people’s choice award. Then from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, The Cajun Cowboy and the Stirrups will take the stage.

The Cajun Cowboy and the Stirrups stopped by the Mustang 1071 studio to play some music. In between, getting ready for duck hunting season, and practicing their instruments, they have been working on some new songs. Gerald, the Cajun Cowboy, says he’s been working on some country songs and learning how to play the guitar. Take a listen to the attached interview and hear the band play the Two-step Mamou live in the studio.

There will be hamburgers and cold drinks for sale. Expect to be hungry, especially if you plan to dance! There is also going to be a silent auction, a resource area for NICU families, an Angel Baby Ceremony and recognition for NICU staff members. Ally Gator Bites Publishing will be inside the chapel telling stories. Their mascot Ally-Gator will be tagging along to help tell stories. Plus, Elsa (the Queen of Frozen) will be hanging around in the morning and in the afternoon expect to see Mickey and Minnie Mouse out and about.

The cost to get in is $8 a person for anyone 11 and up. Children between 4 and 10 pay $4 and children under 3 are free to enter. The admission paid includes entry to the event, a tour of Acadian Village and plus you are supporting the NICU Moms of Louisiana Inc. NICU is a nonprofit group that provides emotional and financial support to mothers who have babies in the NICU.
