Forecast For Thursday Through Festival International Weekend

You’re ready for the festival and now we keep an eye to the sky.

NWS LC

According to the National Weather Service in Lake Charles, the biggest problem we face for Festival International will be Thursday and the timing of this system is important.

Wednesday night is the kick off of the 5-day festival. It seems at this point, the system will move through during the overnight hours Thursday and could possibly depart by Thursday evening. We’re hoping the system does not affect the musical line up for Thursday evening.

The hour by hour forecast has a majority of the rain and heavy storms moving through the area by 4 am and will continue through Thursday. Your commute to school or the office will be a wet one. Some of these storms passing through the area could be of the severe nature with heavy rain, possible hail and dangerous lightning with thunder.

We’ll start on Friday with a 30% chance of light rain and this will diminish as the day progresses.

Once this system moves out of the area, expect mostly sunny conditions for the remaining of the festival with daytime highs averaging in the lower 80’s and overnight lows in the lower 60’s.
