It’s festival season in Acadiana and now that Festival International is behind us, it’s time to recover and recharge your batteries for the Breaux Bridge Crawfish Festival Friday, May 3rd through Sunday, May 5th.
It’s party season in Acadiana and we are setting our sights on the Breaux Bridge Crawfish Festival coming up this weekend. Breaux Bridge is a quaint town along the Bayou Teche and the downtown area is home to many antique shops where you will find those ‘one of a kind’ hard to find knick-knacks which you know you don’t need but really want.
Then you have the food and more food. Some of the crawfish menu items include fried, boiled, pie, boudin, bisque, étouffée and crawdogs. Of course, you’ll have your favorite ice cold beverage to wash it down.
The kids will enjoy the midway of rides and the parade. There will be the crawfish étouffée cook-off for the title of Cook-off Champion. This is a competition to witness as these chefs like to show-off and put on a show.
And live music is outstanding! You’ll enjoy the music from Sweet Cecilia – Chubby Carrier & the Bayou Swamp Band – Travis Matte & the Kingpins – Brazos Huval School of Music – Horace Trahan & the Ossun Express – Paul Daigle & Cajun Gold – Lil Nate & the Zydeco Big Timers Richard LeBouef – Steve Riley & the Mamou Playboys – Forest Huval – Jamie Bergeron & the Kickin’ Cajuns – Mason Trail & Zydeco Rhythm – Yvette Landry & the Jukes Featuring Roddie Romero – Jambalaya and MORE!
If you are an experienced Crawfish Festival attendee, you probably know the best route to get to Breaux Bridge. A word of advice, I-10 East is normally backed up at the Breaux Bridge exit. Make note of the construction on I-10 which will certainly make the approach and departure from the festival very challenging. It is not much better using the Breaux Bridge highway.
If you know of a backroad into Breaux Bridge would probably be your best bet, as I know of a backroad into St.Martin Parish off of Louisiana Ave.
