LSU Avoids Sweep Thanks to Clutch HR

After losing their fifth straight ballgame on Friday night, the LSU Tigers were looking for a hero to avoid getting swept by the Arkansas Razorbacks. They found that guy in the bottom of the eighth to get a 3-2 win over Arkansas.

How It Happened:

The Razorbacks got on the board in the bottom of the first when Matt Goodheart grounded out to second to score Trevor Ezell. Dominic Fletcher made it a 2-0 ballgame in the bottom of the sixth with an RBI double to right center to get Goodheart across home plate.

Things started to look bleak, but Antoine Duplantis pushed the Tigers past Arkansas in the eighth inning with a three-run bomb to right field to give them the lead and thanks to a stellar eighth and ninth innings from Todd Peterson, LSU avoided a series sweep.

Big Number: 10

The home runs were aplenty in this three-game set with 10 total home runs between all three games with Thursday being a clinic on gorilla ball.

Player of the Game: Hal Hughes

Hal Hughes was all over the place on Saturday. Flashing the leather and going three-for-four at the dish was more than enough to earn the honor.

Next Up: Tuesday vs UNO; First Pitch at 6:30 pm
