Mustang 1071 is showing some love for Pouparts Bakery. It’s Lafayette only authentic french bakery located on Pinhook near Kaliste Saloom. This tiny French bakery serves up fresh bread and desserts, soups and more. Chef Francois Poupart has been running this bakery since 1967. He moved here with his wife from Paris, France. The transition was an easy one since his accent and language was not a barrier. Many people in Acadiana speak French and are accustomed to French culture. Since then, he and his family plus a team of talented bakers have been creating the finest in french deliciousness.
This weekend, my kids and I starting talking about macaroons and that led to us wanting to buy some so we could satisfy this craving. And if you want authentic french desserts why not go to a french bakery. I love the building. I have never been to Europe but to me it looks like something straight from the old world. This was my first time visiting the bakery. It is packed full of goodies. When you walk in, there is a shelf lined with jarred products, then a freezer of frozen soup and bisque and finally clear cases of pastries. The prices were reasonable. We decided to try out several varieties of macaroons. There is a dining room available but we took our goodies to go.
Pouparts Bakery doesn’t only offer sweets. You can get sandwiches, savory soups, crab bisques and more. My sister surprised me with a birthday cake from Pouparts. It was a flourless chocolate cake with fruit on top. The options are endless. If it’s been a while, it’s time to check this place out. It a little piece of Europe right here in Lafayette.
For this reason, Mustang is showing some love on a Monday to Pouparts Bakery located next T-Coon’s on Pinhook just south of Kaliste Saloom.
