A Louisiana staple is celebrating 70 years in business in 2025.
From their humble roots in Opelousas, Savoie’s Foods has grown into not only a Louisiana brand, but one that is known throughout the country.
Starting with the little grocery store in 1955, Eula and Tom Savoie got to work, buying land near the grocery store for a meat processing center. From there, sausage, boudin, hoghead cheese, and so much more was produced to sell in their store.
In 1957, National Food Stores helped get Savoie’s products beyond just their local store. From there, products expanded to their rice dressing mix and jarred roux. Since then, the company has continued to grow into what we know it as today: a multi-million dollar corporation with the same humble Cajun roots.
70 years later, the company is still being run from the site of the grocery store in Opelousas and many of the people working there are from the first families to join the team, exhibiting the Savoie family’s commitment to keeping it a family first business.
Whether you’re looking for sausage, boudin, food mixes, or more, Savoie’s has products to fit every need. Find them in Opelousas off of Highway 742 or online at savoiefoods.com.
