The Acadiana area is under a flood watch through Wednesday morning.
The National Weather Service in Lake Charles has officially issued a flood watch for the following parishes in Southwest Louisiana: Evangeline, Lafayette, Iberia, St. Martin, St. Mary, Vermilion, Acadia, Calcasieu, Jefferson Davis, and St. Landry.
The NWS warns of possible flooding from excessive rainfall, and excessive runoff may inundate rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying, flood-prone areas. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas.
There is more than a 90 percent chance of thunderstorms for the area on Tuesday. Another round of heavier rain is possible during the second half of the week as a low-pressure system moves northeast along the Texas and Louisiana coast.
Please take caution when traveling on roadways, avoid flooded areas if possible, and don’t leave the house unless necessary.
