Clean Out Your Freezer – Feed The Homeless

The deep freezer. The bottomless pit of frozen food. The endless possibilities of what’s in there. From pizza to peas to wrapped up mystery meat. Time to clean out that freezer! And finally, figure out what’s in that tub of margarine. Hopefully, gumbo? It’s good to clean things from time to time. And this time it is for a good cause.

The Refinery Mission is getting ready for its annual food drive to feed the needy and hungry. The Hunters for the Hungry Food Drive will be held on Sunday, September 15th from 10 am to 3 pm. This is your chance to get rid of last year’s game and give it someone who is less fortunate. The mission is hoping to collect frozen processed game and fish from the 2018 season. The meat will be used to feed people here in the surrounding Lafayette community. So start looking through your freezer now. On Sunday, there will be stations set up at various sites in Lafayette. Your donation is tax-deductible.

Last year’s food drive collected 8,000 lbs of food. This collection allowed the Refinery Mission to prepare 25,000 meals and feed the less fortunate and homeless.

Here are the 2019 collection sites:
