Eric Walker Puts Together Solid Outing to Help LSU Even Series

The Tigers pitching staff needed a big performance out of Eric Walker and they got just that as he helped LSU bounce back in the second game of the series on the way to a 5-2 win over Alabama.

How It Happened:

Things started out pretty poorly for LSU with Keith Holcombe leading off the bottom of the first with a solo shot out to right center field, but Walker kept things under control and limited the damage to one run. Cade Beloso tied things up in the top of the third when he hit an RBI single up the middle to get Zach Watson home safely. Watson followed that up in the fourth inning with a three-run bomb that was originally called a foul ball, but after video replay the umpires ruled it a home run to give LSU a 4-1 lead.

Chris Reid wrapped things up in the fifth with a sac bunt that got Josh Smith across home plate.

Big Number: 9

Nine strikeouts from Walker was impressive in his fourth win of the season. After allowing that leadoff home run, it looked like the Eric Walker of old was on the bump.

Player of the Game: Zach Watson

While Eric Walker was solid at the dish, Watson looked great at the dish, going three-for-five with that three-run home run being the big highlight.
