Lafayette Mardi Gras More Accessible For Those With Disabilities

Hundreds of thousands crowd the parade route for Lafayette Mardi Gras. Getting around can be difficult for the able bodied, let alone those with disabilities.

That’s about to change. Lafayette Consolidated Government is setting up a special zone for those with disabilities. An area at Johnston and St. Julien streets, near fire station # 5 will be cordoned off for those with disabilities.

LCG’s Disability Awareness Coordinator Harlon Cowsar said, “Inclusion is our ultimate goal and having this area reserved for individuals with disabilities is a wonderful idea.”

Space is limited. Availability is on a first come, first serve basis.
