The 2019-20 athletic calendar year for the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns is poised to be a fun one and it will all get started on August 18th.
The university announced on Thursday that their annual fan day will be taking place at the Cajundome Convention Center. The event is the first opportunity for fans to meet and greet student-athletes and coaches from the Ragin’ Cajuns football, soccer, and volleyball programs before the fall season gets started.
Admission is free and open to all fans with doors opening at the convention center at 11 a.m. New 2019 schedule posters will be available as well as opportunities for photographs and autographs with the student-athletes and coaches from all three teams. The fans will also have the opportunity to hear from head coaches Billy Napier, Lance Key, and Heather Mazeitis-Fontenot, as well as Director of Athletics Bryan Maggard.
The Louisiana Ragin’ Jazz and Ragin’ Cajuns cheerleaders will be in attendance as well to keep the excitement levels up for the entire event, which will conclude at 1 pm.
It’s not the only thing going on that weekend though with the Lance Key era of Cajuns soccer beginning on Friday, August 16th with an exhibition game against in-state foe Southeastern Louisiana. This will help prepare the soccer program for the regular season which will see Louisiana host Southern on Thursday, September 5th.
The volleyball program will get jumpstarted at Earl K. Long Gym with an exhibition match against Houston Baptist on Saturday, August 24th.
Admission to all home soccer and volleyball matches is free.
The second season of the Billy Napier era will begin on August 31st when they take on Mississippi State inside the Mercedes-Benz Superdome with kickoff set for 11 a.m.
