Louisiana To Receive $2.6 Billion For Flood Protection

The state of Louisiana is slated to receive more than 2 billion dollars from the Army Corps of Engineers. The funds will be earmarked for multiple projects throughout the Bayou State. The supplemental disaster relief bill will fund coastal restoration, hurricane risk reduction, and flood protection.

$453 million for West Shore Lake Pontchartrain
$783 million for New Orleans to Venice Hurricane Protection Project
$128 million for Comite River Diversion
$163 million for Atchafalaya Basin
$8 million for Upper Barataria Basin
$94.3 million for Southeast Louisiana
$3.8 million for Grand Isle and Vicinity
$3.5 million for Bayou Segnette Waterway
$3 million for Tangipahoa Parish


Governor Edwards’ office says additional funds are expected to be allocated in the near future.
