Louisiana’s Favorite Christmas Candy

It’s that time of year! The holidays are here and there are many things that come with the holidays. Some of those things we enjoy and some of those things we dreed.

One of the items we love during the holidays is the food and all of those sweets. You can not attend any function without the hosts placing fresh homemade cookies, pies, and cakes front and center of every gathering.

Outside of the homebaked goodies, we all seem to enjoy the candy. And I am not talking about homemade candy, I’m talking about the national candy we all seem to enjoy from time to time. The one hard candy item which comes to mind is candy canes. Those peppermint canes are hung on the Christmas trees and another hard candy is used to decorate baked goods. There is no shortage of peppermint candies during the holidays.

So you would think peppermint canes would be the most popular Christmas candy in Louisiana or most of the states. This would be incorrect.

This is another time of year when candy corn makes a return appearance outside of Halloween. I have to be honest, I have never understood the attraction to candy corn. I can’t eat it for any holiday.

The average person will spend just over $100 this year on candy.

The National Retail Federation says candy sales will rise from 3.8% to 4.2%.

And through sales, The Candy Store.com has ranked the most popular Christmas candy in every state. For Louisiana, our favorite holiday candy is Pez because nothing says “Merry Christmas” like Pez?

<You can see the entire list for every state below.
