A Lafayette Parish School Principal is getting awarded for leadership.

According to a report from The US Department of Education Principal Catherine Bricelj is the recipient of the Terrel H. Bell Award for Outstanding School Leadership in 2022. Principal Bricelj is one of nine to receive this honor.

While principal of the school, Myrtle Place Elementary has improved from a C level school to an A. The report states that Bricelj’s leadership within the school encourages strong relationships, trust, and support for all personnel and students.

Myrtle Place is one of seven Louisiana schools named 2022 National Blue Ribbon Schools. The school earned that national honor for its growth.

All nine school leaders will be honored during the National Blue Ribbon Schools awards ceremony Nov. 3 in Washington.
