Ragin Cajuns Snap Skid with Big Win Over Coastal Carolina

After getting swept the last two weekends against some of the best teams in the Sun Belt Conference, Friday night was something that the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns needed with a 10-0 win over the Chanticleers of Coastal Carolina.

How It Happened:

After the first four innings went by in quick fashion, the Cajuns offense came alive in the top of the fifth. After Handsome Monica was walked to start the inning, Daniel Lahare put a runner in scoring position with a well-executed bunt. Tremaine Spears then put Louisiana on the board with an RBI single out to right center. After Lahare scored on a wild pitch, O’Neal Lochridge made it a 3-0 ballgame with a sac bunt, scoring Spears.

Monica increased their lead in the sixth with an RBI double to left center. The Cajuns got another three-run inning in the seventh, highlighted by a two-run single from Orynn Veillon. Todd Lott finished the job in the eighth with a two-run double down the left field line.

Big Number: 13

The combined efforts of Jack Burk and Austin Perrin were impressive, striking out 13 batters en route to the first Friday night win since March 8th against Loyola-Marymount.

Player of the Game: Jack Burk

Jack Burk deserves a lot of love for the win, throwing six shutout innings and striking out seven on the evening to improve to 2-2 on the season. Considering how inconsistent the pitching has been in 2019, this looked like the Burk of old.

Next Up: Saturday at Coastal Carolina; First Pitch at 2 pm
