Someone in Louisiana is About to Lose Out On A Million Dollars

Apparently, there are people in this world who buy things and then just yank them aside, forgetting about it forever.

A Louisiana lottery ticket worth one million dollars is set to expire this Thursday, February 21. The ticket was sold at the Ideal Mart, a convenience store in New Orleans. Whoever is holding the winning ticket has until 5:00 pm on Thursday to claim their million at the Lotto office in Baton Rouge. Winners usually have 180 days to claim cash prizes. And believe it or not, this is not the first time this has happened. Last November someone claimed 1.8 million dollars two weeks before the deadline. So if you were in the New Orleans area and you just so happened to buy a lottery ticket, it’s time to clean out that purse or glove compartment and find that ticket.

The winning numbers announced on August 25, 2018 drawing were 20-25-54-57-63 with Powerball number 08.

If the million prize money is not claimed by the 5 pm deadline, then it is put in a special unclaimed prizes fund that is used for other contests such as scratch-off tickets and payoffs.

It’s hard to understand how this happens, and how a lotto ticket gets lost. Perhaps some people buy so many of them, they can’t keep track.
