Sunday is Mother’s Day. The day we remember our Mothers, Mother-Figures, and Mothers we love and admire. I recommend, the basics as gifts, flowers, cards, cash, a meal at a nice restaurant or something sentimental, perfume, jewelry, clothes, a massage, a mani-pedi. Whatever you choose, I am sure your mother will love it.
What do some moms really want for Mother’s Day? The answer is sleep and quiet personal time. I know as a single mom of 2 kids 8 and 10 years old, all I want is some mommy time. I just want to sleep, and then sleep some more. That is a gift my kids can afford. Just be quiet and let mommy sleep. That would make me so happy. As they get older and have a source of income, I have trained them to know mommy wants, diamonds and gold jewelry for all holidays that require a present. Now due to their ages, I will gladly accept Cubic Zirconia and Gold Plated items. Jewelry is also the gift that can be recycled, because they can have it back when I die.
Most moms, especially single mothers would love to have some time alone to do what she wants. Give her this time. Volunteer to keep her kids for a few hours, a day, or a weekend. She may not take it on Mother’s Day, but give her an IOU for some kid free mommy time. Take it from me, she will love you for it.
