
The Louisiana Department of Health is administering FREE tetanus shots to flood victims today from 2 p.m until 6 p.m. at the FEMA Disaster Recovery Center (DRC), 301 W. University Ave. in Lafayette.
The Louisiana Office of Public Health is advising that adults need a tetanus booster every 10 years. People who haven’t had a tetanus immunization in 10 years should consider getting one, especially those people doing flood cleanup .
A rare but very serious bacterial infection that causes painful muscle spasms, tetanus, could result from a scrape or cut that can be common as people clean up flood debris. Be safe get a tetanus shot.
