The Lafayette Police Department has announced the addition of a new downtown precinct.
Parish president Josh Guillory used a line-item veto to restore funding for the project after the city & parish councils voted it down.
The announcement by LCG spokesman Jamie Angelle comes on the heels of a shooting that left 12 people injured this past weekend.
The new precinct is expected to be open by the end of May.
