Zydeco is the music that moves us in Louisiana. Southwest Louisiana, is the birth place of Zydeco. This is trail ride season and on almost every weekend in Louisiana, and Texas you will find folks Zydeco Dancing to their favorite bands. It is important to keep the Zydeco dancing tradition alive.
Zydeco Musician J Paul Jr told me the musicians really appreciate the energy they feel from the dancers. The harder they dance, the harder the band plays.
Zydeco dancing is also an excellent way to keep in shape. It’s good exercise. Dancing does a body good! It’s also a great way to get to know someone. You might find yourself with a permanent dance partner.
Check out the free Zydeco dance lessons at Holy Ghost Catholic Church cafeteria, 732 N Union St, in Opelousas. The classes are Every Monday from 6:00 – 7 pm. See you on the dance floor.
