Lafayette Police are Investigating a  Homicide on Hazel Street  On Thursday June 9, 2016, at approximately 1:40 am, Police responded to shots being fired in the area of 300 Hazel Street.  When officers arrived on the scene they discovered  Stephen Phillips (48) AKA “The General” of Lafayette lying in the roadway with multiple gunshot wounds.  He was transported to an area hospital and was pronounced dead.  The investigation remain ongoing.  Detectives are encouraging anyone with information about the homicide to call Lafayette Police or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
