Remembering Michael!

MichaelJacksonAMichael Jackson died seven years ago on June 25, 2009 at his home in Los Angeles.  He was 50 years old.  I was working as the news assignment editor at KATC TV3,  when TMZ broke the news, I broke down.  I cried like Michael was a family member.  It still makes me sad that he is gone.  He was my first real celebrity crush.

I grew up listening to Michael Jackson & The Jackson Five.  I remember buying Right On! Magazine for the posters and pictures of Michael.  I remember having a competition with one of my friends on who had the most pictures of Michael on our bedroom walls.  I remember writing a letter to him.  (Which I KNOW he read and cherished forever!) He taught me how to dance the robot.

I remember how excited everyone was when Michael released a new music video.  I remember seeing the Bad Tour in Houston Texas, April 8, 1988 at the Summit.  I was like a 10 year old girl. sooo excited and dancing around and singing,  “I’m going see Michael Jackson.”  He was BAD!  The one thing I remember about that concert, He did not sing my favorite song, “Man In The Mirror.”

Gone but not  forgotten Michael Jackson  was one of the greatest entertainers of all time.

Check out a couple of my favorite videos from MJ, but beware once you start watching old Michael videos it’s hard to stop.  RIP Michael Jackson!
