Solo for Your Soul!

Solange Knowles is back…with a vengeance!! Her new album dropped A Seat at the Table, dropped Friday. It was 4 years in the making and it was well worth the wait. Her album speaks of the pain African Americans feel on a constant basis, but also offers up comfort, solace and encouragement. Her smooth voice paired with the wonderful harmonies is soothing. I damn near broke out in a praise dance, lol! Already being confident in who I am, this album make me even more proud to be black. Her growth and maturity speaks volumes and touches deep as we all can relate to different situations she speaks of. She is definitely a star in her own right, no need to even bring up the big sister(You know who she is!!) I think my absolute favorite element of the album is the one and only Master P narrating it. How epic!!!

In an interview on Solange’s label site, she states, “With the state of our country and all of the messages that we are constantly being fed about not being good enough, not being beautiful enough, not being smart enough, not having the economic power enough, and constantly being told that we’re not enough, I wanted this to literally be an hour long PSA that we are beyond enough. That we have always been and we are not asking for your permission. We are building our own. We are creating the opportunities and communities that we want to see.”

I will be bumping this one for a very, very long time! Check out one of my favorite songs from her album below!!
