Traveling during a Pandemic

It’s do it yourself flying safely during the pandemic.

I had to get on a plane last weekend for a planned trip back to Ohio. Driving 19 hours again was not an option for me this time. I figured I would abide by all the safety measures, mask, social distancing, wash my hands, you know all the things we hear everyday.

Well I discovered that a person traveling can’t do it by themselves. If the people around you are not abiding the rules then you are just on your own. Now fortunately to even enter into the airport you have to have a mask, so I felt pretty safe in the terminal.

The problem was once I boarded the plane. Whomever assigned the seating clearly did so without social distancing in mind. I can understand the airlines wanting to earn some of the cash they have lost back, but they had passengers sitting side by side when there were open seats on other parts of the plane. Maybe once the doors closed they would of given us the opportunity to move to an open seat, I don’t know because I did not wait that long. I did not want to be the first to get up and move but I was. I did not feel alone long doing this because as soon as I moved to an clear row about six other passengers did the same.

Why didn’t the airline separate passengers from the start? I hope these airlines are not choosing profit over safety but it would not surprise me if they were. So if a plane flight is in your future, take it from me, once you actually board the plane is when you should take the most precautions. Safe travels.
