It’s unfortunate but the COVID-19 Virus has infected some residents in the state of Louisiana. So far, the reports are from Orleans Parish. Even though the infected patients are on the other side of the state, the uncertainty is definitely setting in. The Center For Disease Control is recommending to wash hands diligently, use hand sanitizer, and to try to avoid touching your face.

Some colleges and universities, especially in the New Orleans region, are opting to have remote classes.

Officials from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette have released a statement regarding the Coronavirus. According to this statement from ULL President Dr. Joseph Savoie, classes and campus operations will resume as normal. Since the release of this statement, there are no known cases of COVID-10 in Lafayette. He goes on to say that the use of remote classroom instruction is a scenario that is being discussed.

In the statement, it says, the University’s main concern is health and safety. ULL Officials are working with the Louisiana Office of Public Health to stay informed and relay pertinent information to the campus community as soon as possible.
