The long-awaited Moncus Park is finally coming together and will soon be ready for the public to enjoy. Moncus Park is Lafayette’s, Central Park. The park has been under construction since 2018. Since organizers first broke ground at the old horse farm, there has been a lake added, a huge green lawn, miles of trails, a dog park, and lots of trees planted.
Moncus Park is still in the process of raising money to complete the park. There are several campaigns that donors can support. Any donation will be greatly appreciated. Donors have the option to decide exactly what aspect of the park they want their money supporting.
If interested you can help fund the construction of the Louisiana-themed carousel. The carousel will include animals native to Louisiana and will be located near the Farmer’s Market Pavilion.
You can also help complete the goal of planting one thousand trees. Park organizers plan to plants several rows of live oaks that will shade the walking trails.
Donations are also needed for the Dog Park, Farmer’s Market, and Trails.
Volunteer opportunities are available. Moncus Park depends on people from the community to help with gardening, lawn maintenance and more. Anyone interested in volunteering should contact the Lafayette Central Park office.
