The Lafayette City Police announced they will be conducting  OWI checkpoints Friday Night. By now we should all know the dangers of driving impaired, yet, there are still people who take the chance. Not to mention placing innocent lives in danger.  And as long as the risk continues on the streets of Acadiana, Lafayette Police will continue to conduct OWI checkpoints. You’ve been warned!

storyblocks

I did not realize is the law, for the police department to announce their OWI checkpoint before the actual date of the checkpoint.

According to KATC, the checkpoint will be in the city limits Friday, May 17th from 9pm-3am.

Cops will be checking the condition of drivers and making sure no drivers are under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

As usual, Officers working the checkpoint will respond with zero tolerance to those drivers found to be under the influence.

It is just not smart or very clever to drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
